Job Title Test Equipment Design Engineer, Electrical Contract 3 months Pay $ 60/ hr (DOE) Job Summary A Test Equipment Design Engineer, Electrical job opportunity is open with our client in Berkeley, CA. In this role you will be responsible for the design and delivery of test equipment that enables the execution of critical tests across our iron‑air battery systems and supporting hardware. Responsibilities Design, build, and deploy custom test equipment used in the electrical testing of BMS hardware and firmware/software. Create electrical schematics to capture complex test system designs including the design of control panels, test racks, custom PCBAs, harnesses, etc. Architect and implement test equipment for air and liquid‑handling test beds used in the verification testing of our BESS auxiliary systems. Own the selection and implementation of sensors, actuators, and data acquisition systems. Collaborate with mechanical engineers on the physical form factor of test stands, optimizing for operability, maintenance and safety. Contribute to the software development of test beds, including control, automation, and data acquisition functionality. Ensure equipment designs meet safety, reliability, and compliance standards for high‑power and hazardous systems. Document test system designs, usage guidelines, and validation procedures. Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of deployed test infrastructure. Qualifications BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field. 3+ years of experience in electrical design and/or test equipment development (battery or energy systems experience is a plus). Basic proficiency with mCAD tools (SolidWorks, NX, etc.). Proficiency with eCAD tools (Altium, AutoCAD Electrical/E‑Plan, etc.). Experience designing control panels adhering to UL508A standards. Experience working with industrial automation hardware (PLCs, HMIs, etc.). Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to balance speed, rigor, and safety. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environment.
